This 5-day motorcycle tour takes you deep into the heart of the Austrian Alps, combining legendary alpine passes, panoramic high-altitude roads, and some of the most scenic valleys in Europe. Covering roughly 1,800+ km of riding, the route offers a perfect balance between technical mountain sections and flowing valley roads, making it an unforgettable experience for any rider. From the very first kilometers, the tour immerses you in the beauty of the Salzkammergut region, where crystal-clear lakes and dramatic limestone peaks create a stunning backdrop . As the journey unfolds, the roads become more dynamic, leading you across iconic alpine passes such as the Radstädter Tauern and into the high mountain environment of the Hohe Tauern National Park. One of the absolute highlights of the tour is the legendary Grossglockner High Alpine Road, a must-ride for any motorcyclist. With its tight switchbacks, high elevation, and breathtaking glacier views, it represents the essence of alpine riding . Equally impressive is the Malta High Alpine Road, culminating at the dramatic Kölnbrein Dam—an engineering marvel surrounded by rugged mountain scenery. As the route continues west, the experience becomes even more intense. The ride includes world-class roads such as the Gerlos Pass, Pass Thurn, and the flowing sections of the Felbertauern route, offering a perfect rhythm between technical riding and relaxed cruising. Further into the tour, you reach some of the most spectacular high-altitude roads in the Alps. The Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road, crossing into Italy, delivers an unforgettable combination of elevation, history, and scenery, while the return through Austria brings you back through sweeping valleys and long-distance riding sections . Another standout experience is the Zillertaler Höhenstraße, a panoramic mountain road with incredible viewpoints, followed by technical highlights such as the Hahntennjoch Pass and the ascent to the Kaunertal Glacier Road, where the landscape becomes truly dramatic and high alpine . The final part of the tour transitions back toward the northern Alps, combining scenic lakes such as Gosausee and Traunsee with smooth and enjoyable riding sections. Your journey begins
Your journey begins in the quiet alpine village of Steyrling, where the fresh mountain air and the gentle sound of nature set the tone for the ride ahead. As the engine comes alive, the road quickly leads you into the heart of Upper Austria’s stunning landscapes. 🌄 Into the Salzkammergut The first stretch takes you toward Obertraun, skirting the edge of the breathtaking Salzkammergut region. Here, the road winds gracefully between crystal-clear lakes and dramatic limestone mountains. It’s a perfect warm-up: flowing curves, scenic viewpoints, and that unmistakable feeling of freedom on two wheels. ⛰️ Alpine Riding Toward Schladming Continuing south, the route becomes more dynamic as you head toward Schladming. The terrain shifts—valleys deepen, peaks rise higher, and the roads begin to demand more attention. Long sweepers and tighter bends alternate, offering a satisfying rhythm for any rider. 🏔️ Radstädter Tauern Pass – A Rider’s Highlight One of the true highlights of the tour is the climb over the Radstädter Tauern Pass. This section delivers everything a motorcyclist dreams of: elevation, panoramic views, and perfectly carved mountain roads. Each turn reveals a new vista, making it hard to resist frequent photo stops. 🌊 Malta High Alpine Road & Dam From there, the adventure intensifies as you approach the Malta Hochalmstraße and its iconic Kölnbrein Dam. This is a spectacular stretch—narrow, dramatic, and carved into the mountainside. Großglockner Hochalpenstraße
The day begins in the alpine quiet of Mallnitz, in the heart of Hohe Tauern National Park. The crisp morning air and the imposing mountains all around create the perfect setting for a memorable day of riding. 🏔️ Großglockner High Alpine Road – a spectacular start Shortly after departure, you enter the famous Großglockner High Alpine Road, one of the most impressive alpine roads in Europe. Perfect switchbacks, high altitude, and views of snow-covered peaks turn this stretch into a true highlight. It’s the kind of road that stays with you forever. ⛰️ Felbertauern – speed and flow After descending from the Großglockner area, the route continues along the Felbertauern Straße, where the pace becomes smoother and more flowing. The road is fast, well-paved, and offers an excellent mix of wide curves and relaxing sections—perfect for enjoying the ride without rushing. 🌄 Paß Thurn – transition between regions The next key point is Paß Thurn, a gentler but very enjoyable mountain pass. Here, the landscape opens up and the route takes on a calmer feel, offering a welcome break between more technical sections. 🌊 Gerlos Pass – a dynamic finale As you approach the end, you reach the spectacular Gerlos Pass. This section brings back the adrenaline: well-shaped curves, elevation changes, and stunning views toward nearby waterfalls. It’s a perfect ending to an intense day of riding. 🏁 Arrival in Zell am Ziller The day ends in Zell am Ziller, a typical Tyrolean town surrounded by mountains and nature. After approximately 284 km of road and over 5 hours of riding, you arrive at an ideal place to relax, share stories from the journey, and plan the next adventure.
Day 4
Zell am Ziller
The day begins in the authentic Tyrolean atmosphere of Zell am Ziller, where the quiet of the morning is broken only by the sound of engines getting ready for the road. A spectacular day awaits, featuring some of the most beautiful alpine roads in Tyrol. 🌄 Zillertal – a relaxed and scenic start The first kilometers take you along the Zillertal valley, where the road flows smoothly—perfect for getting into rhythm. Green mountains, picturesque villages, and fresh air create a calm and enjoyable start, ideal for savoring every moment. ⛰️ Gerlos Pass – the return of adrenaline The climb toward Gerlos Pass brings back that authentic rider’s feeling: wide switchbacks, flawless asphalt, and impressive panoramas. It’s a road that perfectly blends the joy of riding with the spectacle of nature. 🌊 Krimml area – a natural show Nearby, it’s worth making a short stop to admire the Krimml Waterfalls, among the highest in Europe. The sound of the water and the dramatic scenery offer a refreshing pause before continuing the journey. 🛣️ Toward the Inntal – fast and flowing pace The descent leads you into the Inn Valley, where the road becomes faster and more fluid. This is the segment where you can ease your pace and enjoy the comfort of longer-distance riding. 🏔️ Ötztal – the final climb to Sölden The last part of the route is truly memorable: entering the Ötztal valley and climbing toward Sölden. The road rises gently, with long curves and increasingly alpine landscapes. High peaks and crisp air give you the feeling of approaching the heart of the Alps. 🏁 Arrival in Sölden You arrive in Sölden, one of Austria’s most famous alpine destinations and a perfect spot for motorcyclists. Whether you choose to relax or continue exploring (perhaps even the Ötztaler Gletscherstraße), the day ends with the satisfaction of a balanced and spectacular ride.
Day 5
Timmelsjoch
This diverse motorcycle tour starts in the well-known Alpine town of Sölden and initially leads over the impressive Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road – one of the most beautiful and twistiest mountain passes in the Alps. Shortly after setting off, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views, tight hairpin turns, and perfectly paved roads. At the Timmelsjoch, at over 2,500 meters above sea level, it’s worth stopping not only for the breathtaking panorama but also to visit the Motorcycle Museum, which offers fascinating insights into the history of motorcycling. After crossing the pass, the route descends to St. Leonhard in Passeier (Italy) before heading back towards Austria. The tour continues via Lienz and through picturesque East Tyrol, featuring long, flowing curves and stunning mountain scenery. The journey then leads on through Mittersill towards the Salzburg region. The landscape becomes gentler but remains equally captivating. The final highlight is the Filzensattel near Dienten am Hochkönig – a perfect finish with magnificent Alpine views. The entire route covers approximately 380 km and around 7 hours of riding time, offering an ideal mix of sporty riding, alpine scenery, and cultural highlights.

🏍️ Motorcycle Tour: Filzen Saddle → Steyrling The day begins in the stunning alpine setting of Filzen Saddle, near Dienten am Hochkönig, where towering peaks and fresh mountain air set the tone for an unforgettable ride. ⛰️ Hochkönigstraße – perfectly carved curves The first stretch takes you along the famous Hochkönigstraße (B164), a road that feels purpose-built for motorcyclists. Smooth asphalt, flowing bends, and constant views of the Hochkönig massif make for an exhilarating and confident start to the day. 🌄 Gosau & Vorderer Gosausee – a scenic pause Continuing toward Gosau, you reach the breathtaking Vorderer Gosausee. This is the perfect place for a break—the crystal-clear lake reflects the surrounding alpine peaks, offering a peaceful contrast to the dynamic ride so far. 🛣️ Pass Gschütt – a balanced riding section From here, the route crosses Pass Gschütt (B166), a beautifully balanced section with gentle curves and ever-changing scenery. It’s a segment that allows you to relax your pace while still enjoying the rhythm of the road. 🌊 Gmunden & Lake Traunsee – returning to open landscapes Descending from the mountains, you arrive in the Gmunden area along the shores of Lake Traunsee. The scenery opens up, and the riding becomes smoother and more relaxed, offering a nice transition after the alpine sections. 🏁 Arrival in Steyrling The final stretch leads you back to Steyrling, where the tour comes full circle. After roughly 200 km and about 3.5 hours of riding, you end the day with a perfect mix of curves, scenery, and memorable moments.
